Infection StatisticsThe first case of COVID-19 was identified in the United States in January 2020. However, in speaking with individuals and health care practitioners, we estimate cases in the U.S. as early as November 2019. The CDC tracks statistics daily and you can find this information on the CDC website.Symptoms and Greatest RiskThe COVID-19 virus has an incubation period of 2-14 days and may show up with a variety of the symptoms listed below. • Sore throat• Fever• fatigue• Cough with mucus• Headache• Shortness of breathFor most young healthy people, the symptoms may be very mild and often you will assume you have a common cold or allergies. For others, the symptoms will include extreme fatigue and fever and may progress to difficulty breathing. We know that individuals over 65 and those with heart conditions, diabetes, and respiratory illness are at the greatest risk, but new information tells us that approximately 40% of the patients in ICU are as young as 40 years of age.Herbal and Nutritional StrategiesBelow are some of my recommendations for prevention and even treatment. Keep in mind, we are still learning this virus so much of this is still speculative and herbalists and healthcare practitioners are still trying out these recommendations and seeing what works and what doesn’t. I reserve the right to change my mind as our information progresses.· Vitamin C 1,500 mg daily for prevention. Up to 3 times a day during infection. Prohibits viral and bacterial cell replication. High dose vitamin C therapy is being used successfully in other countries for COVID-19 and many other conditions.· Zinc 30mg once a day – found in all cells of the body, it helps the body fight off bacteria & viruses· Vitamin D minimum 3,000 IU daily. Have your D levels checked for deficiency before taking larger doses. Vitamin D modulates both our innate and adaptive immune responses.· Elderberry Plus Syrup has elderberry with the addition of vitamin C, zinc, echinacea, and osha· Licorice root slows or stops viral replication by blocking its assimilation into host cells· Phytoguard Immune from Wise Woman Herbals· Dragon Fire Winter Tonic: fire cider formula if you don’t want to take your own. It’s HOT and Spicy! From Wise Woman Herbals· Goldenseal or Oregon grape are both berberine containing herbs. Berberine protects the mucosal lining of the lungs and inhibits viral attachment to cellsWatch the video for detailed information on why I choose each of these remedies as well as the brands I recommend. To purchase any of these, you can order direct from the companies mentioned or by using my shop link on this website.Along with the above recommendations, it is still important to wash your hands, social distance, get plenty of rest, and eat healthy nutritious foods. It is also important, now more than ever, to draw close to your family and re-evaluate what is important in your life beyond the material things. Our lives are changing for an unknown period of time and we each get to take control of how we feel about that. I wish you health and stability and a life of love and unity.Kris Vaughan, CHHerbal Wisdom Institute founder and Program Director
